Story of the birth of Maharishi Ved Vyas.

In ancient times, There was a king named Sudhanva. One day he went to the forest for hunting. His wife became menstruating soon after he left. She sent this news to the king through her hunting bird. On receiving the news, Maharaj Sudhanva took out his semen in a bowl and gave it to the bird. the bird flew in the sky to deliver that bowl to the king's wife. On the way, that hunting bird met another hunting bird Both the birds started fighting. During the fight, that bowl hot separated from the bird's claws and fell into the Yamuna. An Apsara who had turned into a fish due to Brahma's curse lived in the Yamuna. The Apsara in the form of a fish swallowed the semen flowing in the bowl and due to its effect, she became pregnant. when the pregnancy was complete, a Nishad cut the fish open, a boy and a girl came out of its stomach. The Nishad took those babies to Maharaj Sudhanva. Since Maharaj Sudhanva did not have a son, he kept the boy with himself and named him Matsyaraja. The girl remained with Nishad and was named Matsyagandha because her body smelled of fish. That girl is also known as Satyavati. When she grew up, she started rowing boats. Once Sage parashar had to cross the Yamuna sitting in her boat. Sage Porashar became attracted to satyavati's beauty and said, "Devi! I want to have sex with you. "Satyavati said, "Sage! You are an ascetic and I am a Nishad Girl. Out sex is not possible." Then sage Parashar said, "Girl! Do not worry. Even after giving birth you will remain a virgin." Sayin this, he created a thick fog all around with his yogic powers and had sex with satyavati. Thereafter, blessing her, he said, "The smell of fish emanating from our body will turn into a sweet smell."

When the time came, Satyavati gave birth to a son who was will versed in Vedas and Vedangas. As soon as he was born, the child grew up and said to his mother, "Mother! Whenover you remember me in trouble, I will be there. "Sayin this, he went to Dwaipayan island to do penance. Due to doing penance in Dwaipayan island and his dark complexion, he came to be known as Krishna Dwaipayan. Later, due to writing commentary on Vedas, he became famous as Ved Vyas.
